I’ve been scheduling my time more efficiently lately which means I can easier choose and force myself to do things that I don’t do that often. Motivation is a tricky thing, and it’s feels really great to actually be able to make yourself do something that you know you should be doing but can’t mustered up the will to.
For a lot of people, myself included, practicing basic skills like life drawing seems like a somewhat arduous task. Either you have to be enrolled in a school that actively hires nude models or a sketching events like the Dr. Sketchy meetups and go on very specific days at very specific times to do those. This can be quite problematic and most artists just end up not doing life drawing, which is really a shame.
Fortunately, the internet is an awesome (and sometimes scary) place where websites like Pixelovely exist. The have randomly generated professional-grade images of both humans and non-human animals. You can set how long you want the poses to be, or even take a class for a set period of time. There’s not really a replacement for sketching a model from life, but this is the next best thing.
